Yeh,
I know what your thinking.
I havent posted in ages. Im sorry. From now on i hereby swear that i will post once a week :)
I have ben so bogged down recently, uggghh, i just dont know what has happened in these last couple of months. Trimester (term) tests and essays and assesments are all over now and our 1st term results are in. Im a little dissapointed in mine as alot of people scored very highly, and i didnt, so after christmas, and from then on, its work time.
Since the end of last trimester. I have swapped round some of the subjects i did not do very well in. Hopefully this will help my grades improve by the end of next term.
The work has been very demanding, such a big leap from GCSE's ( O-levels ) in england. The syllabus's are extremely different, especially for a subject like maths. The "Presumed knowledge" topic was completely new to me, I had never covered any of the topics, so it was quite difficult trying to catch up when the teacher was just touching on the subject, rather than explaining it.
English has been a challenge for me. Due to my schedual and my other subject choices, i had no other option than to take english at the highest level you can. I was never really a big fan of english and writing essays, yes of course i knew i was going to have to write a few, im doing the IB! But the English is another level! Essay after essay, assesment after assesment. it so hard. the depth that our mark schemes go to is unbelieveable, its like university! Im trying my best though and i am gradually improving, so i should be ok, aslong as i put the work in after christmas.
We have had a couple of "culture weeks" recently, first the North american / carribean week. which was about a month ago and then the Africn week, which was last week. They were both really good, with the students friom the area's in question organising events etc to give expericance and an insight into their culture. What was really good to do with the North american week was that on he monday (the first day of the week) they segregated us. dividing the rest of the students up by the colour of our skin; Whites and Colours. in the dinner lines, in the classrooms, and along the corridoors on the way to class. it was really eyeopening to see how it was when it happened for real.
Both the North american Carribean and the African week students cooked a traditional meal on the friday or saturday. The food was amazing for both. For the african week we were made to eat with out hands and we had to take our shoes off before entering the cafeteria etc.
Unfortunatley. I think it may of been this that has made me ill. :( I am not blaming any of the students from african week, but i believe that something in or on the food has caused me to get a rather nasty stomach bug. that ahs caused me to not eat lin 2 days. im becoming very weak and am trying to eat bread and dry things to try and starve the bug out of my system.
Anyway :)
On a high note, Not long to the braek now, just the rest of this week and then next week and then we are finished for christmas, and my family are coming out to see me! :D i cannot wait to see them, i have missed them so much! i cannot wait to spend some time with them on the beautiful beaches of Costa Rica :)
Anyway, im trying to get better, by resting and not exerting myself so hopefully by the next post i should be fit ans well again :) I will attach some photos of the cutlture weeks for you to have a look at :)
Ciao for now

21st October 2010
Hello again :)
I know this is becoming a bit of a habit now but, sorry for the length of time betwee posts, ive been really busy, this last week has been really hectic, all the work seems to be have dumped on me at once, and im desperatley trying to keep up with it all, English presentations and in-class essays history assignments, mayths and physics tests etc. Its all flying in. iu am really enjoying it though, iu am definatley learning alot, and its all very interesting. (Not much time to be bored during the IB!)
The week before was amazing though, October break, with the first year camp and a trip to the beach thrown in, so much fun, the first year camp was really good, just like cadet camp, only without the disiplinery marches and press-ups and sit-ups along with the shouting and the orders :)
The camp was designed to break up the social groups that inevitably form when people are put together for lenghts og time, to stop you just staying woth the two or three friends that you are closest too, and it definatley did its job, i am much closer to some people that i normally would have just said hi to, on the way to classes.
The trip to the beach was good too, very relaxed and chilled as always, on the saturday me and a group of friends hired bikes and went cycling along the coast to a beach about half an hour away, called 'Punta Uva'. It was really beautiful and the sea was so warm.
The business with the evacuations and landslides is over now, we havent heard anything more about the 'state of readiness we should be in' or about anymore movements in the earth, so, we should be safe enough for now at least :)
My BESTEST buddy i the whole wide world, Andres has been desperte to get a mention on here, the reason being that "rich got mentioned first!" so here we go:... A big shout out to Andres guys, who is the winner of this months' ....
< ... drum-roll ... >

Hey guys, the college have called some people in to fix the internet so hopefully it will be a bit more reliable in the next couple of weeks.
The beach trip last weekend was amazing, so much fun to have that sense of independance to organise a trip across a foreign country and put it into practise. The second we got there and checked in to out hotel (Rocking J's) we all grabbed out trunks and towels and we wet midnight swimming in the heavy surf, so much fun because you can see the waves coming until they break, you just here the rumbling and then you ahve a 7 foot white wall oif water hurtling at you haha great fun :P
The beach in the day time was B E A utiful, although the sun didnt out out and it stayed overcast, the sand was so white, and so soft. And i still got a little biut sunburt on my nose.
We are going again in two weeks, CANT WAIIIIT!!! im definatley taking my surfboard next time! haha
Yesterday we all got called into the library to have an emergency meeting. About landslides being caused by heavy rain. We were told to back a bag with things for anything up to a week's worth of things. this made some people panic somewhat but its all undercontrol now, the warning has been lifyted and its all coming gradually back to normal, great to have some excitement though.
Anyway, i will try to put up some pictures of the beach trip and try to get some of the landslides up on the mountain
next post to come soon, bye guys :)

Hi guys, again...... Sorry for the length of time between posts! ive been bogged down with work and partying haha :P
Ive managed to upload about half of my photos onto facebook, im trying desperatley to get some on here, (i.e the ones of the iguanas's outside my residence) im going to try again at the end of this post, fingers crossed from now on! :)
The parade i talked about in the last post was......... AMAZING! It was so much fun parading through the streets of Santa Ana, seeing all the customs and traditions of all the cultures at the college, aswell as the amazing performance / carnival that the 'Tico's' put on, to celebrate their independance.
My cistumne being typically english attracted alot of attension, so many people wanted to have pictures with me, one women even asked me to hold here baby! haha
However, the costume being english also meant it was thick material, which therefore meant it was bloomin' boiling! sweating buckets i was! haha
Classes have started getting hectic now, especially English A1 HL and Physics HL, so much homwork! essay after essay for english, and chapter after chapter out of the textbook for physics. aggrhh! :P
I just thought.... 10 weeks ti'll christmas! haha!
We are hittin' up the beach this weekend, and i have managed to get hold of a short board to go surfing :D whoooohoooo! im gionna come abck with shoulder length bleach blonde hair, baggy cargo shorts and one helluva tan! haha
anyway, its quater to ten at night here, next post to come soon (definately! as they have kinda got the internet back online)

Hey guys,
Sorry for the "long time no post" thing. The wireless internet over here has been down for ages because of a storm, and they are working on fixing it.
Ive had SUCH an amazing time since I last posted, we went up into the mountains of Costa Rica of the edge of the rainforest to stay in log cabins for 2 day for what is called in UWCCR language "the camp" It was amazing.
The activities with everyone were hilarious, making yourself feel like such a pillock is THE best way to make friends. And ive made so many. they are all awesome people.
Me and my mate Rich went swimming in the river in our boxers, climbing waterfalls and swimming in the plungepools. So cool. the swimming pool on camp wasnt bad either ;) haha.
The bus journey there and back was the scariest bus ridfe of my life. the driver was in mny opinion the best coach driuver in the world. 1000ft drops on either side of a hairpin bend and he gets a full 55 seater coach round it with out even hesitating.
Good fun though :D
The fruit market here on a sunday is the best. the fruit is soooo cheap and is sooo fresh. and yes ivo... they have lichi's haha.
We wnt to the fruit market yesterday and then caught thre bus to "la savanna" which is a big park just outside of San Jose. we sat next tio the lakes and bought ice creams and played frisbee and ate fruit and just ahd a great time. Was so much fun. The feeling of independance is amazing.
Classes started today, at 0700hrs in the morning.... yes they STARTED at 7. Which means i was up at 6 to shower and grab breakfast. Oh well. Suppose i'll have to get used to it. Ive got higher level physics next. im using my 2 free periods to write this now.
Ive downloaded MSN onto my laptop now, so i can talk to you all, and keep in mind that my lunchtime is about your 7pm so that is probably the best time to catch me online (take 7 hours away from your time and that my time)
Missing you all, and hope that your first days at college were good, and matty and ollie... hope you had fun at school. fairfields an amazing place you'll be fine :)
anyway gotta go, my arse in numb from sitting on the ground outside the teachers offices (the only place the wireless still works)

Well,
Without trying to sound too much like Rose,
This is it.
The final few days of anticipation, exitement, nerves and emotion before the eldest Eagle, fledges the nest.
GCSE results tomorrow.
Funny that.
Im about to take the biggest step in my short but eventful life so far, and go and live abroad for 2 years, in a foreign country, a foreign climate and a foreign culture away from my family, my friends and my home. And im more nervous about a couple of exam results.
Yeah.
Makes sense.
Right have i got everything.
No, of course I havent. Its the same with any sort of trip isnt it? you always pack that one item you never ever need, want or use, yet you forget that one thing that is essential, but that we take for granted in everyday life at home.
Oh well, ill deal with that when i realise im missing it.
Epic send off party. Cant even describe how good it was to see old friends from the good old days again, it truly was the best party I have ever been to. Thank you everyone.
Its getting late.
Results next. And the last time i'll see some of my friends again for a long time.
